Richard Bonz

Experience

Mr. Bonz is a real estate advisor and valuation professional with forty-five years of experience in the industry. He has extensive experience providing consulting and appraisal services for properties including, but not limited to, condominium and residential development, mixed-use complexes, high technology and bio-tech research facilities, retail properties, resorts, and waterfront developments. Prior to founding his own practice, Mr. Bonz served as the president of Leggat McCall Advisors, Inc., a real estate advisory firm with offices in Boston and Washington, DC. From 1974 to 1985 he was an officer, principal, and later president of Minot, DeBlois & Maddison, a Boston based real estate and fiduciary firm. From 1968 to 1974 Mr. Bonz was an associate and later a vice president and principal of Gladstone Associates, a Washington based national real estate consulting firm. His prior experience also includes roles as a real estate consultant at Hammer, Siler, George in Washington DC and as a real estate analyst at John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company in Boston.

Mr. Bonz is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, licensed in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. He is a member of the Counselors of Real Estate, an international organization of real estate advisors, and holds the CRE designation. He is also an associate member of the Appraisal Institute, a former director of the Greater Boston and Massachusetts Real Estate Boards, and former president of the Real Estate Finance Association. Mr. Bonz has taught development analysis, real estate financial analysis, and related courses at the University of Virginia, Boston University, George Washington University, Harvard University, Catholic University, and at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. He has published articles concerning appraisal, development, and financial issues and has taught appraisal seminars. He has undertaken numerous redevelopment studies and appraisals of environmentally contaminated properties, and has authored several articles concerning the valuation of these properties.

Mr. Bonz provides consulting and valuation services to individuals, law firms, and businesses nationwide. In addition to undertaking numerous real estate appraisals, Mr. Bonz has extensive experience in real estate counseling and the negotiation of development transactions, particularly those involving public-private ventures. He has been qualified as an expert witness, submitted expert reports, and has testified on real estate and valuation issues in state and federal courts.
