EXPERT & SENIOR PROFESSIONALS

MSG’s experts and senior professionals typically hold prestigious industry accreditations and degrees from top universities. They occupy, or have occupied, positions at highly regarded academic institutions, businesses, government entities, and industry standards-setting bodies. Each year, they publish cutting edge research, help major corporations set strategy as members of corporate boards and senior management teams, and are recognized for their contributions to the institutions they serve. In many cases, they are the leading authorities in their fields.

ANALYSTS & INTERNS

MSG hires Analysts who have either undergraduate or graduate degrees in any of several disciplines, including finance, economics, accounting, and mathematics or statistics. Typically, successful candidates have a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher and have exposure to analytical and quantitative finance methods.

MSG employs a team approach to its engagements, with Analysts typically forming the backbone of that team. Once a plan for a case has been developed, Analysts usually carry out a significant portion of the detailed work required to fulfill that plan, guided by members of MSG’s Senior Staff and supervised by the case expert. The nature of the work an Analyst performs varies from case to case. Assignments commonly include working with a team on issues such as establishing cost of capital, analyzing historical company or industry performance, applying statistical concepts to analyze the movement of stock prices, and reviewing case documents and testimony. Analysts may also aid in the development of qualitative arguments that support our quantitative findings.

We are committed to fostering the growth and development of our Analysts and encourage them to sit for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exams. Analysts take on more senior roles and assume a greater level of responsibility as they gain experience and credentials. Many of our former employees have gone on to successful careers at leading investment banks, consulting firms, and businesses and/or have enrolled in top graduate programs in business and finance.

We also sponsor a summer internship program for students who are preparing to enter their final year of study. This program exposes interns to Analyst-level work and gives both parties the opportunity to see if MSG’s culture and business needs mesh well with the Intern’s personality and skills. In instances where a good fit is demonstrated, a summer internship may lead to the offer of permanent employment as an Analyst.
